Weather

At 6,500 feet in the Northern Sierra, summer days are usually warm and the nights cool. Swimming is best from mid-July through August (although we have seen hardy souls sliding down snowbanks into the lake in late May, and others taking long swims on windy and overcast afternoons in late October). Sometimes in August, there are thunderstorms. Always bring some warm clothes.

During the spring (May and June) there is often snow on the ground, but the weather is usually fine. In September and particularly October, autumn storms are possible, and may bring snow.

Our weather is similar to that of the Tahoe/Truckee area.
